Japanese timber sourcing becomes efficient when every supplier is asked to quote the same commercial object. A species name alone is not a specification.
Minimum RFQ fields
- Species and intended application
- Thickness × width × length, including tolerances
- Drying condition and target/maximum MC
- Grade and knot/appearance rules
- Required volume and repeat frequency
- Incoterm and destination port
- Required origin, legality and certification documents
Normalize before comparing
One supplier may quote by package, another by cubic metre, and another may include freight. LPID separates source price, freight, local charges, processing and creditable taxes before judging landed economics.
Do not compare: log price, green rough-sawn price, KD furniture stock and finished panel price as though they were the same product.
Trial before inventory
LPID’s default operating rule is demand validation first. A first transaction should test specification, documentation, logistics, payment flow and actual processing yield before speculative inventory is scaled.
